Strange. Never mind, I was wrong, there must be some rather annoying bug still buzzing there behind the vacuum tubes in my computer case, a night moth I think it may be, attracted to the light. Trapped behind the switchboard. For instance if I restart with 128 Mb, Rainbow Serpent sees more but with full hash there could be a problem with the replacement policy, I will experiment with another version to see if that really makes such a big difference, I had not expected that, I would have expected the search to be more robust for the replacement policy...
