Nice read

It seems Alexandra does not care or know that from Rybka and allAdminX wrote:Nice read
the top engines around Rybka are clones of Fruit. .
I went to the TCEC site. I still can't read the small print on that site.
Best,
Gerold.
P.S. I have sent Alexandra a personal message about the
issue in the computer chess world About clones in the
computer chess world. Maybe she does not know about them.

What text exactly is small? Can you provide me with a screenshot?
And what browser/OS?

page. I think it is the information page. The white text shows
to small on the gray background. Compared to CCC and
other sites it is not that clear to me.
Best,
Gerold.

Of course she does not know because it is a lie.gerold wrote:It seems Alexandra does not care or know that from Rybka and allAdminX wrote:Nice read

Rybka and houdini are not clones of fruit.
It is a fact that they are clearly different from fruit in the moves that they suggest and a clone by definition produce the same moves.
I think that the question if something of them is a derivative of fruit is not relevant and simply does not interest most people.

Hi Uri:
It seems to interest people on this forum.
I am not clear as to the terms of the GPL, perhaps there is someone here that could clarify the GPL for us.
But it seems clear to me that source code provided under the GPL is not completely free to use for just ANY purpose. As a chess player and a programmer, I am very interested in this issue. It is not a new issue, and it is not limited to chess engines.
But one thing seems clear to me, if Fabien and the FSF don't care to enforce their own license, THEN the GPL becomes worhtless. And that would be a sad day.
Sincerely,
Ed
