Don't think this will be implemented. Till now you can only solve fairy chess problems with PopeyeUCI.
I'm not speaking about helpmates, selfhelpmates, etc.
I'm speaking about Chess variants support. Nothing to do with PopeyeUCI.
Chess variants are Atomic Chess, Suicide Chess(losing Chess), Crazyhouse Chess, Gothic Chess, Fischer Random Chess(FRC-Arena supports that), Capablanca Random Chess, Dark Chess, Progressive Chess, etc, etc, etc....
The only GUIs i know that support many of these, are Winboard and Zillions of Games mainly, as also the old ChessV project.
well as I said I don't think Martin will ever implement those.

Re: Arena future development.../Proposals ?
Hi Michael,
I would like to see a build in tool where two people on different places can play games against each other.
Must be very simple by selecting in the Extra menu..with for example a access code that both has to type in for starting up the connection between these two computers!
Or/and even at home if people has more then one system.
Would be nice..
JP.

+1. LAN play without the need of a (F)ICS server would be nice!

Another suggestion: increase the length of the variations that can be played with the Variation Board, the current maximum of 15 moves is not sufficient in many cases.

Re: Arena future development.../Proposals ?
1) Arena Testmark with SMP support
2) Language bugs fix! I'm tired to see this:
and so on.
3) Game Analysis (like Fritz «Blunder check» or smth like that)
4) When installing new UCI engine to add the proper Name automatically from engine's «id name» option (optional)
5) Better UCI filter. Some engines start analysing with a big delay on my system (comparing to other GUI, e.g. Shreder Classic).
I think that's enough for for one thing

Well just wanted to ask what is it that you would like to have most in a new Arena. Till now we are thinking of
1) Multidocument
2) Windows docking
3) Aggregate (did you notice this at all ?)/Engine windows together
on the other habd 3-D is again not on the agenda.
All the best for 2011
And by the way if you hear again from Russain sources the project you better don't belive Pravda ("The Truth")...

The feature that I would like most is to be able to force each engine in a head to head to play both sides of the same opening.

In Extras->Rating calculation with Elostat you can open
with rightmost button a game list. I would like that this window would stay open when I select a game to be loaded. This helps the game search if you don't remember exactly which game you were interested. It is also easy to scroll through games this way. You see with glance from evaluation profile how game progressed.

I would like to be able to extract FEN string from 'Variation board' from any stage you step through PV variation.

Hi
1st: Thank for al hard work!!
I would like to have the possibility to enter moves using a mic. Some sort of speech recognition.
If that is not possible, maybe you can add TrackIR or FreeTrack support. This will allow to move the pointer with your head (and a cap).
Still is hard to "click", so your program needs a virtual keyboard with the pieces and the coordinates (just icons all around the board) in the way they are touched by pointer they are selected. Also a delete button, and some basic controls like new game, etc
Any case, voice recognition or TrackIR will allow play without using hands.
Thank you. Below a link to wikipedia about freetrack.
