Scid vs. PC has a new release.
It now includes support for si4.
No bugs have been found, but please back-up important databases in case of unforseen issues.
The correspondence chess, tree and mask features have been updated, and from the main right-click menu, most widgets can be hidden.
The OSX package should be better too (please see installation notes).

Hi Steve,
thanks for your new Scid version!
A short question: What does the following line 802 in scid.gui mean/do?
"wm iconphoto . -default icon"
I'm asking because I get an error message on this line (something like "cannot create ..." when starting Scid, and I have to comment out this line (with #) to get Scid running (on my old Win98 notebook).
Regards,
Franz

Re: Scid vs. PC has si4 support
It's not something i've looked at, but Nalimov tablebases seem supported. It's in Windows->EndgameTableWindow. Press F1 for help.do SCID Vs PC Support probing of tablebases Gaviota or Nalimov
It sets the icon for the window manager to use. Nothing important. What does ... "wm iconphoto . -default icon"
Hmm... does everything else work on win98. What version of tcl is reported in the About widget ?

It shows "Using Tcl/Tk version 8.5.4", and so far I don't see any other problems in Win98 (but I've not yet worked very much with Scid).stevenaaus wrote:It sets the icon for the window manager to use. Nothing important. What does ... "wm iconphoto . -default icon"

Yes, I've seen it and I've also made a (short) trial with ChestUCI.Paloma wrote: have you seen this post from Ignacio Santos about Mate in 19?

But I know that Ignacio also knows ChestUCI quite well, and if he with his fast computer didn't find a solution, then my old slow notebook has no chance at all.
