Hehe, you're right Peter, I could confirm it with ChestUCI.
Unfortunately the ThreatDepth is now only R-5 instead of R1 and also C2 isn't valid anymore, so the solution time is much longer:
4b3/1R2p3/1B6/1k1p4/pN2r1pp/Kpp2pnQ/1N5r/3B3q w - - bm #12; 04:02 @ C0/R-5/K2/P9/X38;

If we continue this way, maybe we'll end up in a mate below 10 ... :mrgreen:

And here are 2 other mate problems I've got from Michael, which I also was not able to solve yet:

Mate in 15 ?
[D]4br1n/b7/Kp6/pp1R4/2N2pBk/2Bp1Pp1/1n2p1P1/1r1q4 w - -

Mate in 49 ?
[D]n4b1n/3Q2NK/3B1r2/4P3/5RPp/1P1P2kb/ppppp2p/5r1q w - -

I don't have any solutions nor do I know if these mates are correct at all. :(

Mabe not quite this, Franz, but the study seems to be what's called cooked anyway.
Seems to me in the meantime, the author's solution is the longest one and the four others, I already have together with Zappa (o.k, its mate extensions are turned on :)) all are shorter:

4b3/1R2p3/1B6/1k1p4/pN2r1pp/Kpp2pnQ/1N5r/3B3q w - - 0 1

Analysis by Zappa Mexico II:

1. +- (#12): 1.Ld4+ Ka5 2.Sc4+
2. +- (#14): 1.Lf2+ Ka5 2.Lb6+ Kb5 3.Ld4+ Ka5 4.Sc4+
3. +- (#14): 1.Le3+ Ka5 2.Lb6+ Kb5 3.Ld4+ Ka5 4.Lb6+
4. +- (#14): 1.La7+ Ka5 2.Sxd5 gxh3 3.Sxe7 cxb2 4.Tb8 Dxd1
5. +- (#16): 1.Lg1+ Ka5 2.Ta7+ Kb5 3.Lxh2 gxh3 4.Sxa4 Dxh2
6. = (0.00): 1.Dxg3 hxg3 2.La7+ Ka5 3.Lb6+ Kb5

:)

Well and then its mv- output isn't quite correct as for the number of moves to mate of all of the variants.
Here is my pgn as far as I went to look for the 5 solutions I have till now.
Maybe we could make a contest out of the thread, instead of looking for an impossible mate let's look for some possible ones.

This 12 mover was solved faster than Chest with all engines I tried - even with Rybka4! BTW any chance to made MP or 64b version about Chest?

Thanks Herbert and Ignacio, it's good to have so many experts here! :)

I could also confirm this #16 with ChestUCI
4br1n/b7/Kp6/pp1R4/2N2pBk/2Bp1Pp1/1n2p1P1/1r1q4 w - - bm #16; 03:39+ @ C0/R-3/K3/P12/X36;
but with special parameters there's of course a (small) chance that there might exist a shorter solution.
