I had a go at bumping the limit in namebase.h

262143     /* Round names:  Maximum of 2^18 -1 =   262,143 */
to 2^20-1, which would possibly solve your problem but break si4 compatibility.
But program now hangs loading CCRL.pgn, and there's obviously something else needs doing. Big,small or where - i don't know.

No.

I still use Scid. I think it is great. OTOH I'm no longer willing to fiddle around with programs working more or less.

And yes, I'm willing to pay for software what just does what it should do.
