Within the SEPA area bank transfers cost no more than a domestic transfer. Might be tougher to do it from the US....
Correct. It has changed a lot in the last years. From Switzerland to Germany I did a lot of that transactions and it's like a transaction witjin Switzerland now. From the U.S. to Germany it may cost something , but the DVD is worth the money.
German English
Name surname
Vorname first name
Firma (optional) company (optional)
Straße+Hausnummer/Postfach street + house number/ P.O. box
PLZ, Ort postal code, location
Zahlungsweise payment method
per Rechnung on receipt of invoice
Payment per direct debit is only available from German bank accounts.
It's a little unusual that Heise offers payment on receipt of invoice to non-German customers. ChessBase would never do that...
If somebody wants to order it and needs assistence beyond the above, just drop a PM or ask in this thread.
Thank-you, but how do I make a credit card payment ?
Apparently they're not accepting credit card payments. Just order and make a bank transfer after receiving the invoice.
That is too bad. I would have gladly purchased the new Deep Sjeng if it wasn't such a hassle to get it.
Hmm, I don't know. Here in Germany, credit cards are not too popular. Is it really such a hassle to do a funds transfer?
Anyway, I'm going to write them an e-mail tomorrow and inquire on what conditions they would sell a copy to abroad.
I the end, it's going to cost about €14 to get Shredder and Deep Sjeng, which is really a bargain.
I only do funds transfers for something big or important and even then I like to know who I am dealing with. Transferring funds to a company I don't know for a magazine I can't read just to get another engine is just too much work. The shame is I would gladly have paid for it off his site. But I have been told in another post that Chess Genius is a great program to have so I will get that for a new toy.

Funny how culture can differ. Europeans are far more reluctant using a credit card for that kind of stuff.
Invoice for abroad sales is actually more risky for the seller. If you don't pay up, the seller must dun you across jurisdictions...
Most companies surely would never offer to sell something big abroad per invoice. However, when it comes to selling a magazine, paying an acquirer for handling sales via credit card is easily a cost overkill...
I had to transfer some money a few (2-3) years ago to Spain. It was expensive, complicated and last a long time until the money was there.
If it is better now within the EU I am happy to hear that!

The EU made the regulations for this already in 2000-2001 and at least in Belgium, Germany and The Netherlands this was working perfectly as early as 2003.
