I tried to use it also in Arena. No luck. I use H.S. Little Book for
Stockfish 1.9 works great. Stockfish now is as strong as R4
Nice going Stockfish team.

Best,
Gerold.

The Stockfish's opening book is in the Polyglot format, an open source format that several chess engines are using for years, and according to my humble opinion, even the best and very versatile.

In Arena or another ChessGUI you can use or a book in the proprietary format specific of the GUI ( .abk in Arena, .ctg in Fritz etc.) or the own book of the chess engine. To use the Stockfish's book in Arena, follow these instructions:

1 - Unzip the file stockfish-19-win.zip in C:\Program Files\Arena 2.0.1\Engines
1 - Unzip the file in stockfish-19-book.zip in C:\Program Files\Arena 2.0.1\Engines\stockfish-19-win\Windows
3 - Start Arena and install the engine clicking on Engines -> Management -> Details -> Wizard -> Next -> C:\Program Files\Arena 2.0.1\Engines\stockfish-19-win\Windows -> Next -> choose the executable file that best fits your system ((stockfish-19-32-ja.exe o stockfish-19-64-ja.exe) -> Next -> Next -> UCI -> Next -> Finish -> Books -> Remove the check mark from "With this engine uses the main book of Arena "-> Apply -> OK
4 - Click on Motors -> Management -> UCI -> check "Set common 'own book'" and "the engines use their own book" -> OK

Let me know if you still have problems getting the book work.

If you want edit the book, start SCID and in Tools go to Book tuning
If you want only look inside the book, start SCID and in Windows go to Book window

Yes a very good book Salvo.
I have used your book from the Arena web site for different engines
in the Arena Gui. Just had trouble making the one for SF to work.
Will try again later.
Thanks for your reply and directions.

Best,
Gerold.

1.Unzip the file in stockfish-19-book.zip to ..\scid\bin\books\book.bin
2.Launch SCID
3.Tools - Book Tunning (and select book.bin)

I have always had the same problem under Chrome and Firefox; I think it's a site bug. Workaround (suggested by Christopher Conkie?) is to never use the login button itself, but instead go to a member-only page which will prompt you to log in. For instance, log in using the Profile button.

I'd love for an admin to fix the problem. It's annoying because an accidental double-login will zap your "posts since last visit" list.
