Your book is not sorted.

Choose "only sort book" and then click "Create Winning Book" to sort it.

Cheers,
Matthias.

Hi!
Now all seems ok.
Then you must choose "only sort book" FIRSTLY, when creating a book?
Another question:
1) Its imposible to use a book made by others? Ive tried with KLO´s without success.
2) Wath are the relation between the three books in chessgui? Because they have different extensions (.cgb, .bk3)
Thanks for your gui

0) No, first choose to create new book or append to old.

1) If the book is created by anybody with ChessGUI 0.191 or later, it will work.

2) All cgb books are remis books to reach an equal position for white/black.
All bk3 books are winning books to get an advantage for white or black.

Matthias.

P.S.: a ChsGUI_Book.txt is created from the pgn files, but not used.
You can use that txt file as a pgn file for creating books. The file extension (.txt) should not be changed.

Hi Matthias,

Is there any way to make the text displayed inside ChessGUI smaller? The buttons look ok but anywhere else, like tables, PGN view, fixtures, etc the text does not fit and it is kind of displayed only half.

I looked through the options and config files but I could not see an option as such. Any advice?

Otherwise I am starting to like it. Very configurable, and relatively easy to use for engine-vs-engine tournaments.

Regards,
Vlad.

That is very strange. Which screen resolution do you use ?
Can you post a screenshot here or send it to mgemuh at yahoo dot com ?
ChessGUI uses Arial 10 font almost everywhere.
My screen resolution is 1024x768.

Hi Matthias,

Here are 3 screenshots showing where the problem happens. My screen resolution is 1920x1280 and the ChessGui itself runs in a big portion of that.

Text is also big on various buttons and tabs, but I thought that is how it is supposed to be.

Vlad.

I never knew of the problem.
At least in string grids, the problem seems to be the cell height, not fonts.
If you switch to 1024x768 and then start ChessGUI, you will see what ChessGUI should look like.
I don't know whether I will find a solution, without scaling the whole GUI down.

Hi Matthias,

Thanks for looking into this. Switching to 1024x768 is not really a good solution for me. I have a large monitor that is wide screen, and 1024x768 would be less than a quarter of my resolution (not to mention that is not a wide screen 16x9 resolution), which is far from ideal.

I think if you could eventually include an option to scale the fonts that can could be set by the user, that might fix some of this problem.

ChessGUI 0.194 is out (bugfix).

1) On main screen, set global options under "Game .../Default Game Options ...". On tab "GUI 1", there's a new option "Small Grid Font Size" to try out.

2) In the tournament window, set "Small Grid Font Size" under "GUI Preferences" again.

Does that solve the problem ?

BTW, some options in "GUI Preferences" were not being saved. Fixed.
Book creation has been enhanced.

Now switching to engine programming, I hope
 .

Matthias.
This solution did not work.

I pm'ed Vlad another solution which worked, so I have re-uploaded ChessGUI 0.194.

All feature explanations that I shall be posting shall refer to this last upload.

(Note that T-Online updates immediately, 110mb waits 6 hours).
