Houdini 1.03a bug-fix is available

Post by Houdini »

Houdini 1.03a is now available from http://www.cruxis.com/chess/houdini.htm .

This version contains a bug-fix for the multi-PV analysis hanging in some positions with Houdini 1.03. Even if you don't use multi-PV analysis it is recommended that you replace your existing 1.03 installations with the new build.

I apologize for the inconvenience.

Robert

P.S. I made the same announcement in the other thread, but I'm afraid it may have been lost in the middle of a discussion about avatars...

Thank you!

Is it possible for you to make an ipod app that uses Houdini as a remote engine? Just like stockfish on glaurung 2 that Tord has done.

Thank you, Robert!

One question, i know that you recommended each executable used for the specific number of cores.
It's possible the 2 core versions set to 1 core via options.
Which is the difference between to do this and use the 1core executable?

Leon, that's certainly an interesting idea, I'll seriously consider this.

Herbert, the 1_CPU version will run slightly faster than the 2_CPU version used at one core. The speed difference is largest on 32-bit Windows (about 5%), on 64-bit Windows the difference will be hardly noticeable.

Thanks for the great program. I saw at your website that there is an opening book for Houdini. Is in in the download file?
If so I don't see it.
Many thanks for your efforts,
Gerald

Gerald, sorry to disappoint you, but there currently is no opening book for Houdini.

Robert

I downloaded 1.03a x64

When I try to run it in analysis mode in either CB 10 or DF12, it will freeze for 5 seconds every move.

I tried it in Win XP x 64 and Windows 7 x64 both had the same results.

Josh, do you mean that the analysis runs but you don't see any output for the first 5 seconds?
I don't have CB10/DF12, so not easy for me to reply to this. Maybe other CB10/DF12 users can chime in to help us out.
