This only shows ignorance. Do you think there are no worthless posts here? You do realize that you don't have to read every thread? I read what I want.Christopher Conkie wrote:Here is some chess to start you off......lmader wrote:I'm going to spend my time on the board that works best for my interests, the one that suits me. I don't see why people can't just accept that both forums exist independent of each other, and just get on with enjoying their computer chess.
It's disappointing that some seem intent on an "us v them" theme, and then polluting both forums with it.
This is just a general comment and not aimed at anybody in particular.

If you are proud of that Bob, good for you. I think most people know why you did do that (one thing) and it has nothing to do with some epiphany you had over what was right. I suppose something good has come out of it. You are now best friends again with Whittington.

That's interesting. That is the criteria of righteousness is it? It 's a funny thing. I hope Harvey reads this. I think the same thing happened to him yesterday as well.LucenaTheLucid wrote:I'll bite. Go to talkchess.com search page. Type in "Christopher Conkie" into the "by Author" space. Yes......here it is......

Steve starts this thread here (no idea why but he did) about the differences between the two forums. Some say one thing, some say another. Those in favour of that place then try to put people down. I've only ever seen founders of here do that........until now.
Thanks, that was really interesting. It is an important difference. Well spotted!

My, oh my.
for someone who dislikes Openchess, this dude's really spending time over there.
look at how he diligently spends time/effort over there. He carefully reads each post.
I go over there, but , hey, I didn't even know all these links he posted exist !
Honestly
hehehhe
Oh, the latest fine example of his time spent over there

Very trueAlbert Silver wrote:
The difference between forums is the same as always: the members. You can have all the technology, fancy options, and whatnot, but in the end, a forum is defined by its members. That is why CCC has thrived and survived this long, and will continue to do so.
however there is not very much difference between the two forums in terms of membership
i could be wrong about this but my guess is that Rybka ,Hiarcs ,Open and the CCC all share basically the same membership
at the end of the day..computer chess does not have a very huge following in general so any one interested in it is probably a member of every site dealing with it
although there does seem to be a significant difference in who posts what where

Since I have clearly stated why I changed my view on IP* _after_ several months, and since I _know_ why I changed my mind, suppose you use your mind-reading ability and tell us all the reason. Not something made up, but the _real_ reason. Your comments are a crock in this case. So get off the "I know why you did something" since the statement is provably false on the surface.Christopher Conkie wrote:bob wrote:At least offer factual statements. Yep. Buy for $0.00, unable to sell, profit = 0 in the real world.

i agree with this. i realize its origin is as a 'splinter' but the sooner people stop treating it like one the better. too much meta-ness & not enough chess, but you get that in most tightknigt communities and computer chess seems to be one.Graham Banks wrote:I don't see why people can't just accept that both forums exist independent of each other, and just get on with enjoying their computer chess.

i have heard much talk these last few weeks about the creation of OPEN and the reasons for it
after considering the differences in the two forums i concluded it came down to only two
one very minor and the other quite significant(IMHO)
I dont consider the topic of Computer Chess Forums as "Pollution" rather i see it as On Topic and current about
i notice it has received many replies from many members with a wide divergence of opinion and large view totals
precisely the sort of Topic this board was created for
what i dont understand is why some members feel they have to read everything that's posted even if the topic does not interest them
i certainly dont
Use the Scroll wheel on your mouse Regards
