Rxb7 according to the test suite

Spark & winfinder give correct solution but falling score

Rybka 4 and Stockfish give Be2

Advise please on correct solution please - esp those with monster machines :wink:
The move is good. The problem is the're other moves just as good but less aesthetic.
As "The Sphynx" from "Mystery Men" might say,
"Be2 is number one. All other moves are number two or lower!"

Naum, nearly equally as mysterious agrees:

Why not test Rxb7 to the end and see if it's really less?

In anycase it's winning.

I'm not at all convinced that Rxb7 is winning, but it certainly is worth a go to analyze that alternative. It gets pushed out of my lists of top moves when I analyze on multi-pv, and so I will simply make that key move and analyze the one ply forward position.

Initially, looking at the bottom line analysis after both positions (after making the key move) were analyzed in a batch, it seemed cut and dried:

Black is in good shape (down about 1/3 of a pawn and working on a fail high after Rxb7):
[d]4rk2/1R3r2/3q1nQp/3P2p1/P2pp3/3B2PP/1P3P2/2R3K1 b - - acd 30+; acn 7720309589; acs 1828; bm Rxb7; ce -36; pv Rxb7 Rc6 Rg7 Qxh6 Rd8 Be2 d3 Rxd6 Rxd6 Bg4;

Black is in bad shpe (down 3 and 3/4 pawns and working on a fail low after Be2):
[d]4rk2/1p3r2/3q1nQp/1R1P2p1/P2pp3/6PP/1P2BP2/2R3K1 b - - acd 28-; acn 8145411531; acs 2198; bm Rd8; ce -367; pv Rd8 Qxh6+ Kg8 Qg6+ Kf8 Qxg5 Nh7 Qh4 Qf6 Qxf6;

However, looking carefully at the actual log files shows that for the Rxb7 choice, Stockfish has gone into its fabled "sewing machine mode":
