Spark 0.4 released

Post by Allard Siemelink »

Spark 0.4 is has been released, it can be downloaded from:

http://members.ziggo.nl/allard.siemelink/spark/

Enhancements:
- tuned evaluation
- refined search
- improved time management
- improved performance on 64-bit platforms
- 40 elo stronger than version 0.3a

Bug fixes:
- ponderhits could cause time forfeits when there was only a single legal move (reported by Olivier Deville)
- UCI options were not case insensitive, rendering them unchangeable under the Aquarium GUI (reported by Pal Larkin)
- UCI hashfull was not reported correctly when using >1 threads (reported by Ernst Walet)

Thanks. Will there be a OSX binary provided? Didn't see one in the archive.

great news, what a flood with hiarcs, critter (still haven't really checked this one out), rybka & spark. allard your search is absolutely magical, maybe rybka 4 will be able to compete with it but right now i think it's top notch. just running thru nakamura's blow up of this afternoon, spark shows 24...Rxg5!! & a monster winning eval immediately after 23.Rh2?? was moved. most engines are much slower to go with the exchange sac & to show a huge eval but spark is chess at hyperspeed.

Great update, Thanks Allard!

Spark is the first engine to be used when analyzing wild or tactical test positions. It often gets right regardless of its strength relative to the likes of Ivanhoe.

Hi Allard,

maybe I can ask two questions?

max. Hashtable Size: 2048 MB? spark-0.4-win64-mp-corei engine crashed here with 4096 MB!
no TBs/Bitbase or Gaviota TBs support?
