Let me look into my crystal ball----a new chess term
dummyup patch
Vas will release a dummyup patch after he finds out that Rybka 4 is getting beat by Rybka 3.
No one at chessbase computer room is winning with Rybka 4.
Complaints comming in from everyone.
will this be the first dummyup patch or has this been done before?
wonder if Robert has ever released a dummyup patch for his Crafty?
its all about money

Re: Rybka 3 stronger than Rybka 4 CCRL
This version had a fatal flaw in repeating time control games like CCRL uses. It has already been fixed. The latest beta is definitely stronger than R3, although not dramatically so.

Re: Rybka 3 stronger than Rybka 4 CCRL
A slight communication issue cause the beta results to be released earlier than I had meant, my fault, sorry to all.
There is a bug in the early betas that effects repeating time controls, I thought it would be interesting to record the progress as the bug is fixed. I had intended that once a fixed version was sufficiently tested the list would be released with the tested beta versions, as it show the progress and how much something simple can cripple an engines performance.

THIS is the biggest worry. THIS he might get away with, I'm afraid. (he wouldn't get away with R4 being weaker than R3).

This is only Rybka4 beta.
You cannot get conclusions from it about rybka4.
There is no known limit for the possible difference in playing strength
between Rybka4 beta and Rybka4.

Nor can you pretend that "Rybka4 beta" is somehow unrelated to "Rybka4". Obviously, the version tested had some serious problems which have apparently been fixed in the meantime. But some version of "Rybka4 beta" is going to get the seal of approval and become "Rybka4", so it's not surprising that people are watching the testing with interest and concern.Uri Blass wrote:This is not Rybka4kgburcham wrote:$140 for a weaker program??

I really don't understand what Vas has been doing for the last 2 years, though. Especially considering that this product was supposed to be released at the end of last year, it sounds like it's barely been tested by its developer and is full of bugs which were reported ad nauseum since the release of R3. Maybe it's been Cluster Rybka, maybe Cloud Rybka? In any case, it's fairly clear that it hasn't been "Rybka4 beta". Kind of disappointing.
