Hi,
Darmenios 0.3 is out. It seems to be a 2000 - 2200 ELO engine.
Has anyone been able to make it play with black pieces under Arena?
Best,
Carlos

Hi Graham,Graham Banks wrote:Has anybody got it playing without its own book?
The book works fine under Arena, the problem is that in engine vs. engine matches, it does not play with black pieces.
Regards,
Carlos
Edit: I just realized you wrote "without." I haven't tried this.

Re: Darmenios 0.3
Hi Graham, I got it to play without its book by renaming the original book files, and creating zero length files named BookB.bin and BookW.bin.
It didn't seem to play well with an Arena book, however.
As far as not playing black under Arena, I can't figure that one out. Even the old reliable WB2UCI, which often solves these sorts of problems, doesn't work this time. Versions 0.1 and 0.2 don't seem to play as black under Arena, either.

I didn't have any success at all getting the previous version to work.
I'll see if I can get this version running under ChessGUI, but the signs are not good, and Ray didn't have any luck when he tried earlier.
Will let you know if I succeed.
Cheers,
Graham.

All 3 Darmenios versions work flawlessly under ChessGUI, using their books and Fischer TC (32 Bit).

My engine was quite strong till I added knowledge to it.

Yes, but I'd like it to use the GUI book rather than its own. Is that possible?Matthias Gemuh wrote:All 3 Darmenios versions work flawlessly under ChessGUI, using their books and Fischer TC (32 Bit).
