What happened to schachcomputer.info?

Post by IanO »

Anyone know what happened to http://schachcomputer.info/ ? Both the wiki and the forum appear to be gone.

Are there any other comprehensive indices of dedicated chess computer history?

The word from the Hiarcs forum is that the wiki will be back at the end of March.
Schachcomputer Info in the past year has to the frustration of many members there developed into more of a computer buy and sell site, rather than a place for posts of good chess content for dedicated computers.

This has frustrated the owner who created the site for dedicated people to use as a place to share knowledge and not as it has become, an alternative to Ebay. It also frustrated a lot of long term members there.

Anyway, after lots of internal discussions between the moderators and discussions in the Forum. Notice was given that the site will be closed for 30 days so that people there can take that time to think about the direction for the site in the future.

The site will be back up and running again at the end of March, with hopefully some new ideas and directions that will uphold the original charter of the Forum.

Schachcomputer.info is open again.

http://www.schachcomputer.info/forum/portal.php

There will be no more buy/sell topics posted there. But otherwise everything remains the same except to view the Forum topics you know have to log in as a member.

Also there is now a new Forum that welcomes buy/sell discussions which also has chat rooms for discussions.

best regards
