(black plans to open up the c file for the rook later on)...

I wonder how the Mach 3 and some others do on this one....:-)

not sure why daydreamer needs so much depth though. all the other engines i tested found it close to instantly around depth 8.

Hi Rob

The Excel Mach III first chooses c3+ but then quickly changes to Rxg2+
then ..after 1 min 44 sec and 4 ply it returns to c3+ and sticks with it

perhaps i should have challenged the Forum with the Mach III Instead
:P

OK..thanks Steve.......Very good...!

I remember the 1 or 2 ply level on Mach III as being pretty fantastic...

It (the lower level) would often find the correct move... then change to something else......then come back to the right move again....

It took Plisk 5 and a half minutes and depth 11 to find the move and stick with it. I think the problem is my branching factor which is almost 4. If I could only lower that...
