In light of what you now know. I assume we should look at the 0.2 version as well right?

You're the expert on this cloning stuff, so I guess it wouldn't hurt.
I wonder how many other clones are out there.

I think any programmer worth his salt could do what I do and I am not the only one who checks anyway.

You mean undiscovered ones that are not derivative clones right? Not many, if any? Now if you asked how many clones are being made and are as yet unreleased......then at any one time a good guess would be about 8 on average.

Yes I meant "illegal" clones as opposed to openly stated and therefore "legal" derivatives of GPL open source engines.
I really can't understand how those who release "illegal" clones gain any satisfaction from what they do.

I can't understand why derivatives get given different names than the source from which they came.......

As a percentage of the code surely, they have only a right to change no more than two letters.......

So Viper becomes Sniper.

Bullet and trigger happy regards

Hi Norm,

Don´t care about what others say. If you want to catch Rybka, go ahead.
And if have success one day, all the people will want to buy your "clone".

I only remind you that you should never forget the original author, and when you start gaining yor money from "cloning", you should devide it the the origibal author in a just proportion.

All the best.
SL

PS

It means, you should inform only the original author about your cloning.

I doubt he will make Tord rich even if he keeps it a secret and/or tells him that his GPL program has been sold and released without source code.

Maybe you got lost Slobodan. The CTF is here....

I'm waiting for you there.....

Norm, keep on working on your clone.
If Tord is really the original author, keep him informed what you are doing. It is only the problem between you two. Keep the "mob" far from it.

Bonjour Patrick,

I have examined both Crimson 1.0 and Crimson 1.1.

They are both clones of Viper 0.1 by Tord Romstad.

Christopher
Well done Christopher,

Thanks again!!
