Re: Strongest chess event ever - TODAY
Good luck! I predict that a lot of draws would happen between the strong hardware participants anywayGian-Carlo Pascutto wrote:http://www.grappa.univ-lille3.fr/icga/t ... php?id=198

Wish we had more of these games for collection.

When will the games start? And will there be a live transmission like for the main event?
Well, the website provides not much information, does it? (Or I'm not smart enough to find it...)

Why is it that there are only four participants as there seems to be a lot of protests before on having the hardware limit? They seem to be afraid of losing. For this reason I admire the author of Shredder for joining almost all major competitions I'm aware of without afraid of losing, unlike Fritz for example.
It would have been much better if there's a lot of other participants like Cluster Toga, Zappa, Thinker, Diep, Crafty, etc.. It would have been more exciting.
By the way, good luck . I'm cheering for Deep Sjeng on this one. Spoil the Rybka domination.

Reportedly Joker and Pandix also join, unsure about their hardware.

Will there be a Cluster Sjeng version commercialised?
Thanks

Sjeng lost. This Rybka is a monster.Edsel Apostol wrote:Why is it that there are only four participants as there seems to be a lot of protests before on having the hardware limit? I'm curious to see the PGN with depth and score information for both sides.

I plan to make this a feature of Deep Sjeng 4.0, yes. But I think there is still much work to do both on the engine and on clustering. It will be no point to be able to gain 150 ELO with a cluster if Rybka 4 is 200 ELO stronger.
(Well, there would be a point for me, but less so for customers)

Will a cluster version also use better the Threads like on a core i7 cpu?
core i7 = 4cores/8threads.
JP.

There might be some use for the fake processors to handle the communication with the clients.jpqy wrote:Will a cluster version also use better the Threads like on a core i7 cpu?

But you cannot expect the actual program to get faster from HT. HT just splits up the real processors in half, so there is no real extra horsepower there to make use of, so to speak.
