I posted this on CTF, but thought some here might find it interesting that do not go over there:

Has anyone else watched this show? I purchased the DVD collection and have so far made it through the first five episodes. I was amazed at all the chess references in this show.

One in particular, The Turk, followed by Queen's Gambit had them going to a computer chess tournament and the programmer had a Fritz/Kramnik poster on his home wall.

Good show. The good female "robot" is easy on the eye as well.

The allusions drawn in continue to impress, particularly in the metaphoric games of chess between humans and machines that mirrors the "chess moves" made by Sarah and company to try to beat the machines at their own game. Particularly striking is the poster of "Kramnik vs. Deep Fritz", which is an actual poster depicting a chess board between a human and android opponent whose hand very much resembles a Terminator's.

I checked my favorite internet TV pages and was only able to find season 2 of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. I found season two on Hulu.

I do not remember many computer chess references in the movies but then again I watched them sooo long ago

I had never heard of Hulu until you mentioned it. Now I heard it mentioned on the radio.

Is there one for sports or classic sports?

Netflix also has some classic sports stuff available via streaming. I watched the 1982 NCAA finals (North Carolina vs Georgetown) not that long ago. Amazing game! In it were Michael Jordan, Patrick Ewing, James Worthy, Sam Perkins, and Sleepy Floyd. One of the most fun and exciting basketball games ever! With our crystal ball now, it's even more entertaining....

Michael Jordan's first huge game winning shot! Later on in the pros, Perkins and Worthy teamed up again for the Lakers in the NBA finals vs former teammate Michael Jordan. Those three former teammates averaged close to 70 points a game in that finals series.

Ewing's Hoyas lost in 1982 but returned in the 1984 NCAA finals and beat Hakeem Olajuwon's Cougars. 10 years later, Ewing and Olajuwon met in the NBA finals and Hakeem got his revenge.

Sleepy Floyd still holds the record for most points in a quarter in the NBA playoffs and most points in a half too... Which are practically the only playoff point scoring records Michael Jordan doesn't own.

I don't know how many all star games they have between them, but jebus, it has to be a lot. It was like an all-star game before they were all-stars

Jordan was an unproven freshman -- this is the only game I've ever seen where the announcers aren't really sure what to say about him. They remarked he was a pretty good high school baseball player. It was surreal.

Ewing was also a freshman, and a bit over-excited about his first huge game. He got four goaltends before NC even managed to score the ball. They pulled him from the game to calm him down, and as soon as he got back in, he got a 5th goaltend.

And of course, this is where the legend starts. Jordan's very first huge last-second score for the win...

That would be a great game to check out. I always wanted to see the Magic Johnson/Larry Bird College battle. 1979 I believe!

I have seen the first season, very short and somewhat lacking explanations for some events, but is only entertainment, also the poor chess programmer don't get a nice end.
But I had made a conclusion on it, if you write a chess program with 3000 ELO points, Sarah Connor will appear at your door.

I liked the character as well and was unhappy that he was killed

On the other hand the writers have a lot of respect for chess programmers as they think the programs are that close to creating super intelligent robots

You are right, I guess at 3000 the "Turk" comes to life!

In the Sarah Chronicles, when they show a chess set, does it have a light square or a dark square on the right hand corner?
