Rybka resigns? Why?

Apparently there was a problem (or bug?) with the cluster, the operator closed Chess Assistant GUI to restart the engines...and Chess Assistant resigned the game.

From what I understood the resignation will count, because Chess Assistant is also playing when the game is still in book, so it's not a pure GUI.

Should not this tournament be run more professionally, as I understand that Rybka crashed and lost the game in won position, without beeing able to resume the game.....
This kind of thing has been going on for quite some time now where losers were getting rewarded for another engine's bad luck.
As a TD it should not be impossible for you to change the outcome of the result....

Rybka _resigned_. There was no way to resume the game. If it just crashed or disconnected, it could have.

Actually what happened was the operator lost their connection to the clustered Rybka program and exited the Chess Assistant software. The interface resigned the game due to closing the program.

The interface is just as important as the engine in a tournament, thus the reason I stress testing the setup vigorously.

Since the interface resigned, Rybka lost. If it had simply disconnected, it would have been able to resume the game.

Is it allowable in other tournaments to resign the game, then come back and resume it? I didn't think so...
