Tornado 2.2 released, windows 32 bit and x64

Post by Engin »

08.02.2009: v2.2
-------------------------

- Egtb code integrate to tornado, that not need for Egtb.dll, and insert lock for smp access.
- books of tornado renamed, that confused with other engine books, eg. craftys book.bin
- few changes by history pruning, and adjustements of futility pruning.
- smp search changes, limit to 4 threads per split point ( not tested ! )
- first time 64-bit compiled, thats a little bit faster.

Yes, just did a quick test here, and the 64-bit version is about 40% faster on raw kn/s

Unfortunately I already started with 2.141a, nearly 300 games played so far  I'll have to come back to 2.2 later

Yes - Charles and I have already started running Tornado 2.1.41a gauntlets, so we'll stick with those also for now.

Engine authors should never have to apologise for releasing improved versions. You're the ones who should be in control and not feel dictated to by anybody.

Cheers, Graham.

The FRC ratings list has now been updated with 800 games from Tornado 2.1.41a

The pure list, which I prefer to look at
http://www.computerchess.org.uk/ccrl/40 ... _pure.html

Games played
http://www.computerchess.org.uk/ccrl/40 ... do+2.1.41a

I will now move onto some other engines, and come back and do Tornado 2.2 x64 in about 4 weeks time
