Quite frankly I wouldn't like to see anybody leave as I said previously, but I can't let emotive comments dictate moderation action.Terry McCracken wrote: If Steve leaves and Hyatt, I may too!
Of course I'm sure that doesn't matter either....ppphhhttt!
Just doing the job and hoping that everybody will calm down in the meantime.
Members do feel very strongly about issues at times and things can get out of hand in the heat of the arguments.
Look upon this as a chance for everybody to cool off for now.
Regards, Graham.

I'm not angry, I'm just calling like I see it. I've been here a long time, Steve even longer, and Bob as well.Graham Banks wrote:Quite frankly I wouldn't like to see anybody leave as I said previously, but I can't let emotive comments dictate moderation action.Terry McCracken wrote: If Steve leaves and Hyatt, I may too!

Re: [Moderation] World Rapidplay thread being moved temporar
If Graham is doing his job properly he cant have difficulties to seperate what Bob said well about existing rules and that H. had violated them from what Steve dreams of, namely that someone cant or shouldnt be criticised if he was the first to talk about what he had done wrong. Bob should be respected as the one who's representing state of the art in computerchess. I agree with Bob about his indignation that suddenly Grah stopped the debate "temporarily" although no personal insults had appeared at all - if any I could perhaps discover some attacks against Bob, but as usual Bob didnt complain - so why stopping the debate other than with wanting to avoid a communication about the apparent violation of clear rules? Grah should quickly realise that this was overreaction. But he should make a clear statement about the rules of that event. In doing so the debaters would calm down in a better way than by simply cutting off the whole dcebate itself... To call a violation of rules a violation cannot be judged as a personal attack and a violation of the charta of CCC IMO. Bob has made this all too clear.
In the name of rational debate please Graham, re-open this debate. Thanks.

Who am I to influence you but are you certain that there had been real insults in this thread? Could you send me a single example per email? I havent seen one yet, but I'm not a native speaker.Graham Banks wrote:All in good time Rolf.Rolf wrote: In the name of rational debate please Graham, re-open this debate. Thanks.

- referring to someone's book as unchecked rubbishRolf wrote:are you certain that there had been real insults in this thread? Could you send me a single example per email? I havent seen one yet, but I'm not a native speaker.
- attacking "mediocre" engine authors and insinuating that their points of view are based on jealousy rather than substance
- referring to a member being made to feel as unhappy as usual
- a direct attack on moderation
So far! Still tidying up the thread.
