Houdini 2 is only 3 months old, so there is no particular hurry. A commercial engine that is integrated in a number of popular products (Aquarium, Chess Assistant, very soon Chess King) and is available on DVD through a large number of dealers, has some inevitable inertia that doesn't favor frequent major releases.

What exists now, is great!
I hope that future improvements and increasaes, do not come at any reduction in what is already great in its playing style.

(e.g. ingenious positional maneuvering should not come at any cost of reducing any of its tactical vision and ingenuity etc. EVEN if the result is that it would add a few elo.)

Plus one. I can agree with the beautiful playing style of Houdini.
Playing Houdini vs. Strelka 5 gives some really nice games also.

Mobile/PDA platform is on the wish list/to-do list, a specific Pocket Fritz port probably not.

Maybe it's just me but I think the GUI looks awful. It doesn't seem to follow any standard Windows GUI paradigms. Of course others may disagree.

I think the GUI looks pretty streamlined. Maybe the green color is a bit much but it looks easy to navigate!!

Of course functionality is the key (for me anyway)

I might be interested in checking it out.

The only thing is I already purchased Houdini 2 UCI so it would be weird to buy that GUI with the engine again.

But I say the GUI has me intrigued.

Space seems a little bit wasted having the GUIs logo/banner occupying an area of roughly a quater of the chessboards area.
