Not in 23 but 21

While verifying some unsolved positions (for me), I was working on this position which was notated as a mate in 23. It appears to be from a Chest file, but I don't know from where.

I set Stockfish DEV (20021515, this version fixes the mate score reporting bug) to work on it and in about 3 minutes it had found a mate in 21. I also verifed it with Black Diamond XI (without the mate score fix) and it verified the mate in 21.

So I took the FEN and searched the web and found this site which had a write up on it from a couple of years ago.

That site reported it as a mate in 23 and one respondent did some move analysis. A lot of black's moves are forced, and the mistake was in white's 7th move. Instead of 7. Qc4+, white moves Qd3+.

I set Stockfish DEV (20021515, this version fixes the mate score reporting bug) to work on it and in about 3 minutes it had found a mate in 21. I also verifed it with Black Diamond XI (without the mate score fix) and it verified the mate in 21.

So I took the FEN and searched the web and found this site which had a write up on it from a couple of years ago.

That site reported it as a mate in 23 and one respondent did some move analysis. A lot of black's moves are forced, and the mistake was in white's 7th move. Instead of 7. Qc4+, white moves Qd3+.

Not sure if anyone else has bothered solve this position before, but the entry in the list indicates it is a mate in 23 as well. I guess it isn't really a cook (not sure of official definition), but I call it a reheat!

Edit: the binaries in the threadripper folder are good for any AMD Ryzen/Threadripper/EPYC CPU

All windows versions have Large Pages enabled - but if it cannot setup large pages , it will just drop down to default. If you have enabled large pages, simply restart your machine if you do not see large pages enabled.

Large pages will boost your nps by ~10% or more - use a hash size that is a multiple of 2048 for best results.
I would not use a hash size that represents more than 25% of total RAM to be conservative. The OS will treat Large Pages as being unavailable and if your OS runs out of physical RAM, it will start the dreaded disk swapping which will slow your system to a crawl on HDD.
