Has to be a mistake

Post by Dann Corbit »

In this game I got from TWIC:

[pgn] [Event "Rapidplay, Villarrobledo ESP"] [Site "?"] [Date "1997.??.??"] [Round "5"] [White "Shirov, A."] [Black "Ljubojevic, L."] [Result "1/2-1/2"] [WhiteElo "2700"] [BlackElo "2565"] [ECO "A46"] [EventDate "1997.??.??"] [Variation "Queen's pawn (plus KID, Old Indian, Philidor, KP Nimzovich)"] [PlyCount "25"] 1.Nf3 d6 2.d4 Nf6 3.Nc3 a6 4.Be3 e6 5.g4 h6 6.h3 Bd7 7.g5 hxg5 8.Bxg5 Nh5 9.Bxd8 e5 10.Nd5 Nf4 11.Rg1 g6 12.b3 a5 13.Rb1 1/2-1/2 [/pgn]

It's listed as a draw.

First of all, 13.Rb1 makes no sense (the obvious Nxc7+ wins easily).
And this is not a draw.
Does someone have the correct game score?
Taking ideas is not a vice, it is a virtue. We have another word for this. It is called learning.
But sharing ideas is an even greater virtue. We have another word for this. It is called teaching.

8...Nh5 is a bit difficult to fathom as well.

Probably the origination of the saying "A knight on the rim is dim."
Especially when it coughs up a queen.

This game found its way into an opening book.

I guess that they filtered for "both players gm and ending in a draw"

Chess 365 has it quite differently:
