Changing the bookmark to "http://www.talkchess.com/forum/" has solved the problem on this ff/linux combination.

... What is the problem exactly (does it happen when you do computer-computer games)? As I wrote: it is crashing, hanging, freezing, however you would like to name it. ... Compared to the windows version, it is rather crippled... Surprisingly for a Java application. Sounds by crippling it intention...

It is ready after a few seconds here. "Loading" is displayed forever. Just click on "Start" after a few seconds.

Hm, have you ever tried to create a book? It starts here but when it comes to operations which have to do with file handling it crashes here. Also I noticed I have to use windows engines in it.
