Re: AlphaZero is not like other chess programs

I clicked on all 4 vidoes ... but did not see (or hear) any GM's annotating the games ... Again quibbling. GMs or not, they are chess experts and if you take the trouble of going through them you will realize how completely outclassed Stockfish was. seems like MCTS and NN have been around for awhil...

Re: AlphaZero is not like other chess programs

Oh for god sake man, stop trolling around. How old are you 10? You behave like an OCD kid in a candy store. Have you even bothered to really go through the games ? Then you would realize who is really trolling. You talk a lot of nonsense about how the conditions were unfair to Stockfish and similar...

[...] And the randomness of the selection is also quite limited (if not completely absent - the paper states that the edge is selected that maximizes an "upper confidence bound"). Randomness has never been a requirement in the tree part of the search. The earliest description I remember of this typ...

Re: AlphaZero beats AlphaGo Zero, Stockfish, and Elmo

Rasmus do you really think he will understand that after all he said before? I've never seen Lyudmil posting derailing stuff. The main point isn't even technical understanding, it's the perspective that equates computing with doing stuff on x86-like CPUs (or ARMs or whatever). It takes a while to l...

Re: Alpha Zero vs Stockfish 8 tournament conditions.

You are completely mistaken if you think that Google threw half a computing centre at the match. In the self-training, yes, that was a different story, but so was Stockfish's development (e.g. fishtest). In particular, they played 44 million games in 9 hours. Fishtest does that in about 3 weeks. Th...

Re: AlphaZero is not like other chess programs

Comparing AlphaZero to Stockfish is like comparing an airplane to a motorboat. Both can be used to cross a sea, but they are using completely different techniques to get there. SF won't run on tensor chips. AlphaZero won't run on ordinary CPUs. The approach is very different. The horsepower of Alph...
