Re: My First Project : Toga2012

Nice On the other hand if you get a compiled version for linux maybe you'll find more testers for your project :) EDIT: well, for what Miguel says reltaed to GPL code it doesn't seem to be that nice, but in any case good luck with your project! Besides, I guess the more open you make your project t...

Re: My First Project : Toga2012

I am quite sure the reason for this (losing on time) is that you use Arena or other GUI. I would recommend you (if it doesn't matter) to use something like Cutechess-cli, which is much faster because there is no graphics. I am quite sure you can use 4 seconds with 100 ms increment without any proble...

Re: CLOP/cutechess-cli

thank you! CLOP is really great, it's fascinating to see the convergence slowly happening. and I would never have been able to guess the CLOP-timal values. It's interesting to see how all known theory regarding piece values is a load of BS... For example knights and bishops are now worth close to 4...

Re: Does anyone have analyses/theory in this position?

Hi Oliver Could you give any variations after Qg4 Nd4 ? It seems to be interesting since all my friends with the same trainer as me plays the vienna as well, though not the f4 system allways. I Think I have the other emms book you are looking for somewhere, and I will post the variations as soon as ...

Re: Does anyone have analyses/theory in this position?

There is also a "trap " I have played many times, and won them all these times. After 1.e4 e5 2.Nc3 Nc6 3.Bc4 Bc5 , What do you think you should play? Ah, 4. Qg4 Nd4, the Vienna Poisoned Pawn :D It is. I've actually never played agains ...Nd4, But against ...Qf6 VERY OFTEN, and i think it is lost f...

Re: Does anyone have analyses/theory in this position?

I wish you good luck with this opening, because it seems double-edged from my patzer POV. I (1200-1300) have played this everytime i can with white, my 2200+ trainer too. I never came in bad positions as white, quite opposite. I once won against one of the best in my group in scholastic chess after...

Does anyone have analyses/theory in this position?

Hi, I play this opening/system very often as white: 1.e4 e5 2.Nc3 Nf6 3.Bc4 Bc5 4.d3 d6 5. f4!? Here people sometimes play 5... Ng4 : [d]rnbqk2r/ppp2ppp/3p1n2/2b1p3/2B1PP2/2NP4/PPP3PP/R1BQK1NR w KQkq Here Houdini recommends 6.fxe5, but the theory I know is 6.f5 Now Black will be in trouble/very uncl...

Re: Best way to improve one's tactical ability (from 1500-18

I mean, is it better to play an engine +200 my elo or +2000 my elo?
Sorry for the misunderstanding.
