Apps with Stockfish engine

A new app with a Stockfish engine (and own GUI) is Majestic Chess Pro http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/id542306493 You cannot see variations or valuations in normal game play against the app. In analyze mode you see only the first line of stockfish above the board - but here it covers the board - ugly...

Re: Universal Ios apps?

Correct - and you can use iPhone/iPod-Hiarcs at the iPad as well without landscape format. The 2x zoom is not very nice but better than before at iOS 4. The other screen design for Hiarcs HD is indeed a clear plus at the iPad (landscape and upright format). One comment to ChessGenius: I like the pla...

Re: KOMODO for iOS - My $0.99 Back Please

That doesn´t mean the strange but the variability of levels (it only looks like it as Chess Legends has a bug at longer time controls). In my opinion tChess offers the best possibilitys to set time controls at iOS. Second best is the lack conviction "Fritz Chess". tChess http://www.warnemuende.cc/f...

Re: KOMODO for iOS - My $0.99 Back Please

the ipad is not for power users. its more for children and for fun. why do you need variations or search info on a toyish hardware ? buy an android device. install CHESS by aart bik and run komodo as UCI engine with all stuff a power user needs. You obviously fail to understand that this is due to ...

Re: KOMODO for iOS - My $0.99 Back Please

Well the check popup is a novelty just to annoy the user even more I guess. Although my german became a bit rusty: "Scheinbar liegt die App auf der Höhe des insoweit vorbildlichen tChess" Not even close. Comparing Chess Legends to t-Chess would be an insult to Tom Kerrigan and his app :) That doesn...

Re: KOMODO for iOS - My $0.99 Back Please

The problem is not $0.99. There's no opening book, the GUI doesn't understand 3-fold repetition (as I wrote elsewhere). So basically you (Don and Larry) allowed Komodo for iOS to ship with a total .... GUI and the guys even use it to promote their own other games, which is really funny because it h...

Re: Daily iPhone chess programs releases

I actually feel sad to see that Chess Tiger is now a free app. Has Mr. Theron give up hope? It is a very nice program, no question about it. But what will be the driving force for him to make the program better? I am a happy customer, just glad that I paid for it before. Regards, I think it is not ...

Re: Daily iPhone chess programs releases

Have a look at the great and free iPad version of Christophe Thérons Chess Tiger (it is an universal app but most of you should already use the iPhone pro-version?!): https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-GGzXr9G2tq0/UArObr9XcyI/AAAAAAAAA0E/QjIWKkGSfgI/s819/Web%2520Albums%2520App%2520Upload%2520-%25202...

Re: Does anyone have analyses/theory in this position?

I haven't got the book, though, and I had the impression that Black should not be worse if he knows what he's doing. Would you mind to post Emms' main line here? Especially how he assesses 7. Nh3 Qh4+ 8. Kf1 Ne3+ 9. Bxe3 Bxe3 10. Nd5 Bb6 11. Dd2 "gives White a clear advantage, Honfi-Witkowski, Muni...

Re: Does anyone have analyses/theory in this position?

This opening is not from any openings book, ... Oh yes, it is: Have a look at the books from John Emms, "Beating 1e4 e5" and "Attacking with 1 e4". By the way 5. f4 is not bad at all. I think 5. f4 is bad, maybe not in the game losing sense but in the same sense that the goring gambit or the morra ...
