Re: mmt Vs. Ovyron (G4 D5 BG2)

I'm hoping Zenmastur will agree to a game regardless of the test outcome just based on the amount of effort you've put into the test.

Re: How do you know if your cpu is equal to your gpu?

Please give an example of what you mean. Just make up numbers for imaginary engines 1 and 2. Tell me what exactly your graph is, and then what you do afterwards.

It sounds like you're saying something that is not correct, but maybe you mean something different.

Re: How do you know if your cpu is equal to your gpu?

He does not want that. He does not want different strength software to have hardware handicapping so the combination of sofware and hardware is the same ELO. e.g. he does not want to adjust the hardware so that Crafty 1.0 gets a 50% score against Lc0, or to adjust the hardware so that an untrained N...

Re: How do you know if your cpu is equal to your gpu?

Getting an equal outcome (e.g. 50% score in a match) when the engines are not equal in strength (which is what he's assuming for any two different engines) is exactly what the OP does not want. He does not want equal outcomes. Isn't your "1.0" meaning equal outcomes, or is your "1.0" supposed to mea...

Re: mmt Vs. Ovyron (G4 D5 BG2)

That's a bad bet. Only TBs will give you that.

It's an especially bad bet if the opening truth depends on difficult endgames.

Re: mmt Vs. Ovyron (G4 D5 BG2)

So are you still betting on the theoretical draw?

Since you were only required to get within five moves, that should have taken maybe eight hours. You really need to upgrade your hardware. But, I know, you disagree.
All that matter is that he gets it right, so that we have the next 1.g4 game lined up. :)

Re: How do you know if your cpu is equal to your gpu?

Wasn't this what this thread was about? Do that. Then see what CPU is equal to some GPU. You're done. No. The OP wanted to know what is "fair", i.e. hardware that doesn't favor one side, not "hardware handicapping" like horse handicapping to achieve equal chess outcomes. e.g. Back then they would s...

While we wait, Jouni, can you clarify whether you are a French smoker? (Richard's post.)

Re: How do you know if your cpu is equal to your gpu?

It sounds like you want to find the hardware that'll make the two engines equal in strength.

What I want is to find the asymptotic behavior of each engine.
