Re: Strange Lc0 TCEC performance

Watch a game of TCEC -- Leela best moves will match the opponents predictions for large chunks of the game. This "humanlike" marketing gimmick will die at some point. Indeed, I have seen that the move predictions match in many cases, especially when playing stronger opponents. But they do differ in...

Re: Strange Lc0 TCEC performance

Clear to who? Until you can write an NN that runs as well as AB on a CPU, then the only thing you are proving is that massive specialized hardware trumps a general purpose processor. Thats it. Cut and dry. No further interest. Merging engines is something people with no clue what they are talking a...

Re: Strange Lc0 TCEC performance

Without crippled hardware, Leela would be on first place. Deux maybe second place!    99% will go offline without NN engines at TCEC. Shame to see people leave, but will return the chat to actual talk of chess development and play. I would hope NN-fans would be happy that T...

Re: Strange Lc0 TCEC performance

Poor score indicates something is broken. Which is always likely with entered late changes. High draw rate indicates higher than "normal" width to depth ratio. In general depth finds interesting lines and possible wins. Width defends against overlooking stuff. More width and less depth = safe, defe...

Re: TCEC Division 3 results simulator

I didn't test how often SB comes into play for TCEC tie breaks, but it is quite a way down the list, which is: score disconnect count wins black wins sb it would be a bit of hassle to find the rate of sb tiebreak decisions, I could try later maybe, but it is probably quite low. LC0 will have tie br...

ok, let me rephrase that: everybody there is having great fun

and yes I can speak for everybody because that's what I see
While I find aspects of Deus X rather objectionable, Div 4 was really a lot of fun to watch, and I for one am looking forward to the continuation of the tournament.

Re: Leela is more Chess-domain specific than regular Chess engines

All in all, it is true than 3x3 filters do have some difficulty with heavy pieces in Chess, but another conclusion would be that Leela is more Chess-domain specialized than traditional Chess engines, which perform better in variants deviating seriously from Chess. I'm not sure the filters are the p...

Re: TCEC season 13, 2 NN engines will be participating, Leela and Deus X

Meanwhile, Scorpio with neural networks is ignored ... It uses supervised learning (just like the deuce) with different NN architecture, search, backend etc... Hurts to be ignored after investing so much time in it ... is it because I am black :) :) (obviously I am joking here) I still haven't seen...

Re: TCEC season 13, 2 NN engines will be participating, Leela and Deus X

I think this move may backfire and will hurt TCEC more than it will do good. People are not stupid and want diversity, not 32 clones of SF. Deus X will use lc0 with a custom net. Shouldn't be allowed imho. I agree, it seems rather difficult to me to justify allowing Deus X while not letting develop...

What is going on with the test LC0 ?? Going up like a rocket!
The learning rate was reset to the initial value. The nets are probably still considerably weaker than the ones before this reset, but it seems to be learning fast...
