Re: The wrong way

Just skip it. Practice is that it almost always never works. So that means I should not post anymore. I don't think I have that discipline. No doubt the code you propose in this thread won't work for Skipper. Only a very few advices ever gave improvements to Skipper. So I expect nothing. Hello Henk...

Re: Best EPD Testing Software

I did not experience crashes with Epd2wb, but I probably did not test a broad enough spectrum of engines. It is a fairly complicated problem to make every WB and UCI engine communicate in a stable way for EPD analysis, especially since I have seen a lot of variance in WB output. Not sure, for insta...

Re: Crafty 25.0 Release

I compiled two 32 bit versions: crafty25_32.exe: 32 bit compile able to run on only 1 cpu. crafty25_32n.exe: 32 bit compile able to run on only 1 cpu, without popcnt for old cpus. They are compatible with Windows XP :-) http://www.andscacs.com/crafty/crafty25_32.zip Hello Daniel, Both 32 bit versio...

Re: Best EPD Testing Software

Use Arena. You can run an EPD test suite with that. I think that ChessGui can do it also, but I did not try it myself. Hello Dann, The op indicated Arena crashing when running epd. I have experienced that issue. ChessGUI can definitely do epd testing with several engines queued up. Sub one second t...

Re: Crafty 25.0 Release

I hate to ask, but why are you crippling your hardware with a 32 bit OS? Yes, you're right, I must be stupid! You won't believe it, but I'm even stupid enough to sometimes use a 'crippled' chess engine (called Crafty), which is a few hundred Elo weaker than the current free top-engines. :P ...

Re: ** Moderator Election - Nominations now open **

It is time for the tyranny of the Brownian oligarchy to end. Are we not tired of being crushed under their iron heels? Hello Adam, Y'know, the funny thing is that someone, somewhere, will take you seriously. I mean, it has to happen sooner or later, that someone takes you seriously. Right? :-) Plea...

Re: World Chess Move Generation Speed Competition 2015

It should be obvious what I mean. Counting material only means counting material only during evaluation and nothing more. Not much double Dutch. By the way I don't understand why you react on my post for it always ends into a quarrel. Moderators might be sick of it. Hello Henk, The moderators are p...

Re: Ugly UCI

Well, where I stand is that I compare all these so called 'derivatives' with using doping in cycle racing. I feel very reluctant to proceed working on my own engine because of this. Every good programmer can produce a top engine within a couple of months or maybe even weeks by grabbing all the idea...
