Re: SPCC: Testrun of Allie 0.5 LS11.1 finished

I wonder what the difference between Allie and Allie Stein is. I still cant believe that Stockfish beat a NN engine in the TCEC Championship. ( I am glad it did.) Perhaps LCO was trained against SF and Allie Stein wasn't.

Re: First chess benchmarks for the Intel core i9-10980XE emerge

Techpowerup quote: "18 cores, the i9-10980XE is ahead of the 12-core Ryzen 9 3900X in rendering and simulation tests, although not by much (for a chip that has 50% more cores). This is probably attributed to the competing AMD chip being able to sustain higher all-core boost clock speeds. In tests th...

Re: Twin 2080Tis and large NN

Large NNs (384x30) really do improve the performance of lc0( whether Laskos Sir fully agrees or not ). Of course, twin 2080 Tis help :) , but on the other hand using a large NN with a weak GPU makes no sense and would simply backfire. Following is a Game against a guy using 16 Cores and Stockfish.....

Re: google quantum computer

(Without quoting anyone) it never ceases to amaze me how many ol'-stick-in-the-muds with closed minds there are, that too in a COMPUTER Chess Forum ! When Charles Babbage invented the first computer in the early 19th Century, I'm sure the Ancestors of most Englishmen here shook their Heads wisely a...

I wouldn't trust a Google announcement as far as I could throw it. Sounds like their marketing department is at it again.

I also do not trust Google.

Re: Rumored Threadripper pricing

Wccftech has an article that included rumored naming and pricing for Third Gen Threadripper. The basics are: AMD 3rd Gen Ryzen Threadripper Processor SKUs (Rumored): CPU Name CPU Cores CPU Thread TDP Price 3990X/WX 64 Core 128 Thread ~280W $1799 US? 3980X/WX 48 Core 96 Thread ~280W $1499 US? 3970X/...

Re: buying a new computer

Without a doubt, those prices are low. But even at double the price, they are a better buy. The 3950 is $700 so the 24 core price might not be too far off (I expect $800 or more) The current (gen 2) 32 core threadripper is $1800 for the 32 core version. So I would expect a little more for the gen3,...

And then theres the people that say you need thousands of games to determine a superior engine. I agree that there is a big difference between LCOs blunders and SFs blunders. I thought that SF would never win another super final. I am glad it is back on top.

What has SF done to improve so much? I am really surprised.

Re: IN 100 games if SF reaches 51 in TCEC it should be stopped

I do not know if it was luck that AllieStein v0.5-dev_7b41f8c-n11 got a better score than LCO but AS did NOT do as good as LCO against Stockfish 19092522, probably next time around Alliestein with an update might be as strong as Stockfish, unless there is something better than RTX 2080 waiting arou...
