Re: Wasp and a question

Hi Fern, I don't make any claims for why Wasp should be preferred over any other engine. Wasp uses similar search and evaluation techniques as other engines. But it is an original engine, so all the routines are coded and tuned differently from any other engine which may give it a slightly different...

Re: Wasp 2.60 by John Stanback released!

Yes, it could be something with the mp programming because after changing the core to one it works under ARENA 3.51. But it works only when running with one core. i hope i couldt help. Hi Thomas, Thanks, you found a bug for me! I had disabled the currmove output when more than one thread is used an...

Re: Wasp 2.60 by John Stanback released!

After running wasp 2.6 more than one hour i can say that wasp didn´t send an info about the current move in the analyse mode. i hope that this point can be fixed. Thx for all. Hi Thomas, I just tried Wasp 2.6 with Arena 3.51 GUI and I usually get current moves showing up somewhere between 3.5 and 1...

Thanks Frank for hosting Wasp on your web site, and for your testing of various Wasp versions!

Re: Wasp 2.60 by John Stanback released!

Wasp waits until elapsed time > 3.5 seconds before sending the "info currmove" message. But if the move it's currently searching takes a long time to search I guess the delay can be much longer.

Re: Wasp 2.5 testing

I see that Frank's beta testing of Wasp 2.5 is finished. The results are marginally better, but I noticed that the results are not consistent against individual engines. My first impression (since I don't have many of the engines used) is that Wasp played worse against engines with a more complex e...

Re: TCEC 10

Hi Christian, I'm sorry for your bad luck. I'm kind of surprised Wasp hasn't had some sort of problem running on 22 cores with 8G hash. I was lucky enough a while back to have someone test nodes/sec on a machine with 44 cores. My first attempt at MT was terrible on that machine, the next attempt (us...

Re: TCEC 10

Thanks! This was a nice surprise for me this morning as I didn't stay up and watch the game last night. But the nodes/sec for Nemorino are very low, I wonder if there was a problem with it running on 22 threads or large hash.

Re: To Frank: about Wasp 2.5 testing

Yes, the next version of Wasp will have multi-pv.

I'm hoping to get about +50 Elo over Wasp 2.01 for the next release. But this is proving to be difficult :(.
