Re: Are javascript engines open source?

Agree with HGM. You can always read Javascript engines but the licencing is separate.

For example I say that one can use Lozza unmodified in your own projects:-

Re: On-line engine blitz tourney September

I use same (node.js), but without V8 optimization. I will try that too. I turned opt/de-opt tracing on a while ago and V8 does a lot of de-optimising for reasons I failed to figure out, so it may be better to never optimise it in the first place, because it all eats up time. Yeah, it's shame Javasc...

Re: On-line engine blitz tourney September

How can I get into the "CCRL" list? Hi Tamás, It's run by Graham Banks et al and it's really just whether or not they decide they need another engine in a division of that strength. You could message him and ask what the situation is at the moment; let him know an ELO estimate:- http://www.talkches...

Re: WAC again

Even played with a term to make Queen stay close to d8. Bug in other evaluation terms might have overruled that or made it play even worse then without that Queen term. Looking at the game it looks like too much emphasis on mobility perhaps? And sorry I was wrong - it was not 10 queen moves in a ro...

Re: WAC again

Hi Henk, I hesitate to say this because Lozza is no champion, but :) watching skipper play at the last HGM tourney, to me, it looked like something more fundamental was wrong. Skipper moved her queen about 10 moves in a row at the opening, which seemed weird. Just a thought... When I was developing ...

Re: JavaScript UCI and Cinnamon UCI JS Engine on Arena 3.5.1

I suspect Cinnamon does not use UCI/Winboard for comms. I started it on a command line using both jsUCI and node and it did not respond to UCI. I don't know Winboard but that's an easier way to test (command line). Also it will only respond to jsUCI if it is specifically designed to do so, ditto for...

Re: sacrificing

Just for fun.

Somebody asked for a much-easier-to-beat version of Lozza. I made one that *only* uses mobility for eval - no material values other than those implicit in mobility - no other terms.

You can try it here:-

Re: The Secret of Chess

Hello everyone. I wrote a new book, titled 'The Secret of Chess'. It is available for a modest charge here: http://www.secretofchess.com I would have offered the book free to everyone on this forum, but, unfortunately, I had to leave my job couple of years ago, to be able to fully concentrate on ch...
