Re: Syzygy DTZ caching in Windows. Waste of memory?
Thanks. I knew they were only accessed at the end of a game. That's why I was wondering about the effect of the next game in a tournament, when the DTZ might have overwritten some WDL cache that is needed in succeeding games. I guess the fact that only small parts are accessed at a time means it is ...

Syzygy DTZ caching in Windows. Waste of memory?
I assume Windows caches all files that get read from disk (SSD or HDD) without prejudice. Is there a way to prevent certain file types from being cached? I would think doing so when a DTZ is read is a waste of memory cache capacity. The largest DTZ files are over 2GB. During a tournament, this waste...

Re: Hi Def Komodo 9 YouTube Tournament, Take 2
Thank you, Rob. But don't change the Table Memory to 256...bad for your Time Control. Komodo may still lose overall, but not as badly as before. Watch. TableMemory back at 128. Just to be clear to any who wonder, I am not biased. Just want to see all the engines perform as good as they can, and wel...

Re: Hi Def Komodo 9 YouTube Tournament, Take 2
Hi Rob I suggest you use Drawscore 0, or anything else but the Default Drawscore -7, which is simply NOT recommended against Stockfish. Changes Made after game 135: Komodo DrawScore from -7 to 0 Komodo TableMemory from 128 to 256 (Hash is still 8GB for all engines, that might be a bit high for this...

Re: Live YouTube HiDef Komodo 9 Tournament
I don't have Komodo 9 but I must say I'm surprised to see SF dev having about the same nps than K. I remember in the TCEC that K had a lower nps for the fist move or 2 moves and then it would be way above SF. There does seem to be a lot of improvement for both engines. Very impressive improvement r...

Re: Live YouTube HiDef Komodo 9 Tournament
There are a few inaccuracies in the Arena "table" window: 5930K is @ 4.5GHz, not 3.5 OS is Win 7 Professional (needed to support the 64 GB RAM), not Home Premium. I hope people are enjoying the tournament. Sorry about the WireCast watermark and annoying audio, but it cost $495 to purchase the softwa...
