Re: Ron Nelson maybe will come here...

I never stopped programming chess at Fidelity after the Spracklens were hired to work for me. Their programming efforts were high end products and mine were the low end consumer chess computer products. When their development had peaked I worked with Dan to improve the tactical threat quiescent sea...

Re: To Larry Kaufman

I am not the only one who has noticed many more SF users lately, hopefully Komodo update will restore the balance One month ago, after a period of Komodo dominance, our statistics already showed a comeback for Stockfish. Then version SF 7 came out and even more players switched from Komodo to Stockf...

Re: Stockfish 7

In SF forum: no one didn't beat abrok compiles more than popcnt + 0.5 % and x64 + 0.7 % so no need other compiles. But official bmi compile is 4,6 % faster! BTW why are testers running popcnt version with corei7 CPU - no bmi instructions? I think the microcode was disabled for BMI in some of the ea...

Re: 64 bit Crafty 25.0 binary

Built using msys2, mingw, and gcc 5.2 64 bit compiler. To create this build using the same tools, just type: make profile from the msys2 prompt in the crafty folder. Thanks! My 5.2.0 compile from your link: EPD Kit revision date: 1996.04.21 unable to open book file [./book.bin]. book is disabled un...

Re: Arena 3.5.1 is now available:

"Arena restarts in tournaments now always after at 20 games or less" Is there a way to turn this off? I do not want Arena to always restart like that. I can't see why that is thought to be a new feature. Arena has been doing that for ages and it cannot be switched off even though there is a checkbo...

Re: Komodo 9.3 speed measurement

Just a heads up, one issue I have had in the past with Arena occurs when using the common hash setting. Sometimes the engine can run at default hash, no matter what common is set at.

For this reason, I don't use global hash in Arena anymore, and set it for each engine individually.

fishtest down, what's going on??

So, last night when I left, fishtest was down. Now, over 12 hours later, still down (unable to connect). I don't know if it was down the entire 12 hours, and there was also a record number of users yesterday. Does anyone know what's going on? This is a really bad time for fishtest to be offline, obv...

So DID Martin make another video update as promissed?
I do not believe so, and the other videos are deleted, so I guess they served their purpose as the situation unfolded. I don't recall that he "promised" to do a 3rd one.
