Re: yet another attempt on Perft(14)

I would like to see statistics about the move types generated. What is the percentage of captures at each phase? What is the percentage of e.p. captures at each phase? What is the number of checkmates at each phase? How many single reply moves are there at each phase? Currently my program doesn't s...

Re: yet another attempt on Perft(14)

Impressive speed. Assuming a branching factor of 32.5 it would take you "only" roughly 10 months for the perft 15 numbers. Do you consider there are still efficiency gains possible with your software? If so, by what factor? The other approach of first listing down unique positions (and occurrence c...

Re: GTX Titan video cards

Apart from more memory (12 GB vs 8 GB) the titan cards don't offer any benefits over GTX 1080. Also depends on which Titan card you get. In case you decide on a Titan card, make sure you get the latest nvidia titan X (pascal based) card. The GTX 1080 should be significantly faster than all other tit...

Re: New engine?

Thanks for your interest in my engine. I was planning to do more improvements before officially announcing/releasing it but looks like somebody tried it from my github repo and now I see it on CCRL and CEGT rating lists too :). This is fine as anyway I haven't been able to spend time on it in the la...

Re: Three in agreement, so far

yes, most likely due to false positive from transposition table probe.

Just tried with non hash versions of the program and got correct answer:

CPU Perft 7: 14794751816, Time taken: 73.9707 seconds, nps: 200008156
GPU Perft 7: 14794751816, Time taken: 0.526672 seconds, nps: 28091023117

Re: Work unit 041 completed

Sorry for not updating the results of my perft14 verification run. I am working on a chess engine and my PC has been busy running tests for it slowing down the perft verification effort. I will try to devote some machine time to perft runs again. After Steven pointed out some errors in my results I ...

Re: ZIP problem

I had compressed them using 7-zip (which I guess defaults to lzma for zip format). I have updated the zip files to use deflate. records 400-499 have completed records 500-599 are in progress results: test records: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4d0eT2FyxrqWnd6N092YkR3cVE/view?usp=sharing records ...

Re: Perft(14) Weekly Status 2014-12-14

My weekly status: work units 964, 0, 33, 36, 38, 41 and 42 completed. 964, 0, 36 and 42 match Steven's results. Other work units can be verified once Steven's machines finish processing them. I have started with work unit 400 onwards so that some amount of work can be split. Finished work units 400-...
