Re: SmarThink 1.60 released

Hello Sergej,

I have tested Smathing little bit. Try redefine pieces values. It seems that it is the biggest weakness. In match against Senpai Smarthing had almost everytime quality more and lost those games.

Re: Stockfish wins TCEC

Larry,

it is not due to better time management. It is because of much better tactical skills. Try to test Komodo vs Stockfish in solving tactical puzzles...

Re: Time Management

Problem of almost all engines is that they spend not too much time on their first move out of book. For example: Rybka 4 was thinking approximately 9 seconds on their first move in every 5 minutes game. Sometimes it immediately got bad position. Why not to prolong this period up to 30 seconds?! With...

Re: Komodo 7

Well, even GM´s don´t have super opening lines. In my experience opening level can be divided into these groups:

1. Correspondence games
2. Freestyle games
3. Playchess engine room games
4. GM´s
5. Remaining human beiings

Re: Komodo 7

If you play against human, you just don´t need so deep and serious preparation. You just check opponents games. You are looking for positions which does not like a check with engine some opening lines. I you are very motivated...I kkow even one GM who was very surprised when I told hin two years ago...

Re: Komodo 7

I disagree. We played against Badur Jobava in one of freestyles. He didn´t have old laptop, he was using 8-core machine (at that time it was very good hardware). The problém of GM´s in Freestyle is that they tends to influence engines opinion. Moreover, they are not used to work with books, database...

Re: Komodo 7

Luke McShane had for sure better hardware than we had. We are almost everytime equipped by the worst hardware (at that time I had some artificial Athlon - it is good maybe for MS Office, not for chess). I believe that we can beat easily Anand, Carlsen or other top GM in Freestyle with equal or even ...

Re: Komodo 7

In this version of chess (Freestyle) grandmaster is not essential, it is even weakness. I remember a lot of freestyles where grandmaster took bottom positions (e.g. Luke McShane had rating around 2700 ELO points and scored 3.5/9). I believe that we are able beat Anand in Freestyle chess, because it ...

Re: Komodo 7

Interesting match (let´s say 12 games) which we would accept could be Komodo 7 on monster hardware against centaur (we, Etaoin Shrdlu, have just 4 core machines). If someone can sponsor the match, fo course :)
