Re: How to speed up my engine

Search over ALL captures adds an extra overhead that you don't need. For example, you can discard losing captures in the quiescence search because you will surely stand pat in the next ply. No. You mix up losing captures and futile captures. Good captures can be futile, and bad captures can be non-...

Re: How to speed up my engine

The null move uses R=2 no matter what. LMR (R=1) is based on the move ordering so it reduces moves that are < 0 based on PST. Quiescence could be an issue.....I search ALL captures, good or bad. Re: Rhetoric (Dynamic Settings) Review

Hey fellas, I just did a very subjective review of Alberto's new Rhetoric 1.4.3 engine, with material set at 50% (I've called this setting simply "dynamic" for simplicity). Thought some of you might find it interesting. Especially the way it SMASHED me in one particular game. Its here...

Last week I was looking for a cross compiler targetting Mac, but I couldn't find any.

It would be nice to find someone who can build the binary for me.
I can send him the sources by mail.

The reason of the size is because I changed the compiler. This is the first versión built with Mingw. Version 1.4.1 was built using an ...

Rhetoric 1.4.3 Released

It's been a hard year for me and I could only do minor changes and corrections. But these changes added 40 elo points in self test. You can download the new version from www.chessrhetoric.com (page in spanish) Dedicated for those players who want an "almost human" engine and play interesting games. ...
