Re: ChessBase Engine Database Loading

Hello All, About two weeks ago I had the misfortune of a crashed C-drive. It was an old PC and overdue for a crash. So, I purchased a new PC. But the latest misfortune is that now I need to cope with Windows 10, a fate nearly worse than death. Having a new PC means I need to update my ChessBase (CB...

Re: Guess the Poster CCC-WordCloud Fun Competition

3. Fernando for i see the words 'machine' and 'friend' correct. and now the other two are logically solved by previous answers. So it was like so: 1. hgm 2. mclane 3. fern 4. Rebel 5. Terry McCracken 6. Rolf Fascinating, I thought, that 6. Rolf was the most proposed choice but as chrisw, bob, Ed, V...

Re: Tool for cleaning EPD file

Thanks chris. I thought it was dirty because Windows OS' notepad.exe didn't break the lines ending in 0x0A (LF) linefeed. Already fixed it. I opened it in wordpad and wordpad already fixed the problem with 'Save As' then I saved into "Text Document -MS DOS format" thereby saving the file with correc...

Tool for cleaning EPD file

Was searching the web for new EPD files to test random UCI engines, and encountered dirty EPD files.
Are there tools to clean these up?

p.s. Strange, but I figured out the solution after posting with CODE tags here in forum. It looks like CR/LF pair issues against the Linux/Unix world.

From a very brief look at the code, the part I find most interesting is that Fizbo was aparently using neural networks. At least to me this is news.
Strange. You mean Fizbo is really an a.b.- NN hybrid.

Re: is this a fortress?

Some weekends ago, I played a game as black where my opponent had a chance to defend my attack by trading a queen and pawn for two rooks to reach this position: 3k4/2p3pp/5p2/8/2N3P1/PP3RP1/2q3PK/8 b - - 0 34 During the game, I felt this would be a fortress since even if the rook can be pushed off ...

Re: Nolot #3 vs. SF Dev

Hold on again, I had the wrong castle rights. I will try again with castle rights set to none Thanks a lot! That's the correct reason. Just last week, I freshly downloaded a Nolot test suite from some random sites to test the latest SF dev, and that Nolot suite is wrong and don't have castling righ...
