Re: Pause calculation / analysis engines

Yes, that is what I meant Harm, I edited my post a little when I saw it was confusing. As far as I know, Windows keeps the hash intact although I have not really tested it, I don't play correspondence chess or things like that. But certainly for short perods of time you can do this now. Windows shou...

Re: Pause calculation / analysis engines

Saving the hash in memory and restarting the analysis after reloading it is not the same as continuing the analysis undisturbed. If you are satisfied with that you might as well just have terminated the analysis (but not quit the GUI or unload the engine), and restart the analysis when you are done...

Re: Vachier-Lagrave - Naiditsch, GRENKE 2019 R3 : 25.Nf6+ !

Upon analyzing the position after making the key move, it seems the actual advantage is very small. I guess that the real truth for this position lies more than 60 plies away. Re: Stockfish misevaluations:

You could patch the eval of Stockfish a little in this particular position by scaling the stronger side down for having all pawns locked (after giving b5). The 'lantern' formation on the right is a well known 'indirectly' blocked formation. But I think it is only cosmetical. Kaissa gives 3.71. If yo...

Re: Best move?

The situation at depth 59 was about the same for the 5 best moves. 9. h4 got a little better, 9. c3 dropped out and in its stead came 9 Bb5. r1bqk2r/ppp2p2/2np1n2/2b1p1pp/2B1P3/3P1NB1/PPP2PPP/RN1Q1RK1 w kq - Engine: Kaissa IV (512 MB) by T. Re: Best move?

If we can believe Kaissa (still very buggy IV, but maybe just a bit less because of synergy of bugs with the new Stockfish code) analysis, it has shown by now that 9. h4 is in fact the only playable move for White. So you only have to refute one move and Robin Smith would still be right. Or even if ...
