Re: What was the last good Stockfish?

Well, yes, but sometimes even the Stockfish can be beaten by something that has all its evaluation parameters out of whack. And sometimes that thing can even win a match that it should not win by any logical statistics. Like it did here: Stockfish 2019-09-16 No Contempt - Bluefish 2019-09-25 No Cont...

Re: Is Black's compensation after 16. g3 really sufficient?

Hi guys, yes that is right, Shredder's way of indicating a "jump out of the search window" by a Fail Low or a Fail High. Other GUIs do that a bit differently sometimes. Stockfish for a while gave really long PVs even in case of a FL or FH but the moves are often very imprecise in such cases (*), eve...

Re: Stockfish 190826_dll_fix

The Stockfish binary sent in for TCEC was using a Windows dll ("dynamically linked library") that turned out to have a bug. The bug was somewhat noticed before by CoffeeOne in Stockfish team but it was not realized it was in the dll. Stockfish became unresponsive twice. If it had had three hangs it ...

Re: Is Black's compensation after 16. g3 really sufficient?

I let the search continue a little bit. For Stockfish I think the main line after Deep Junior's B sac is still a draw. White about 1½ pawn up but this advantage isn't growing anymore. Of course it is possible that Stockfish misses something. I would like to test the small change to Stock but I can't...

Re: Is Black's compensation after 16. g3 really sufficient?

Stockfish with a small change predicts 19.Nd1 and then 19...Nh2 even from move 11 after 2 minutes correctly predicting the lines after the Bishop sac as played in the match but deviating with 16.g3. So not so much 19.f5 from the diagram. rnbqr1k1/pp3ppp/2p2n2/3p4/3P4/P1NBP3/1PQ1NPPb/R1B2RK1 w - - 38...

That Mate in 5 again

Latest Stockfish Dev (2019-09-16, one thread, own compile, no tablebases). It's a monster  Oh well, at least it is getting there, currently failing high for the eleventh time and searching with a reduced depth of 67 plies. Ten hours and counting. rk6/p1r3p1/P3B1Kp/1p2B3/8/8/8/8 w - - Engine...

Re: Testposition EET/002

Probably the use of tablebases? There are more winning moves but without tablebases most of the time Stockfish latest version plays 1...g5 Only some Fail Highs for 1..h5 but not played in a full PV 8/p5pp/3k1p2/3p4/1P3P2/P1K5/5P1P/8 b - - Engine: Dev 20190916 (512 MB) by T. Re: Analyzing a position Ding-Firouzja wcup19

Don't think there is much going on in the position, not that I can see. Old Ancalagon only gives +0.08 everywhere, this was pre contempt, I believe it had something to do with the side to move bonus but I'm nor sure anymore. Or was it a primitive contempt bonus? But that was the most interesting thi...

Re: Is this position a win for white?

Maybe we can look at the position again, with some improved programming in more than a year and a half and some people with very big machines :)? Maybe see new things as requested also here http://www.talkchess.com/forum3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=69361&start=70#top The questions still pending for these p...
