Re: Stockfish patches

SF dev. Why are some (up to 6) patches released in one day (often less than 1 hour), and then again 10 or more days without a single patch? Why so many within 1 or 2 hour? It just depends on when the maintainer, which is Marco, has the time to make the decision whether a patch passes or not and upd...

Attack testposition for wild engines?

Related to a recent testposition . We know 1. h4 is not best, probably third best move. 1. Ng4 wins outright, and 1. Kh1 Kh8 promising, but if 1. h4, not every engine will find 1...Kh8 (to make way for Rg8) But now, does White still have some compensation for the Black extra pawn? As a human I would...

Re: a brief update - yet another name change

Funny, I had just thought of suggesting in your other post in the programming forum that "Lewis" might also be a nice name for a chess program, and that you already had a logo for it with your new chess man. Lewis as the companion of Leela. I associate it also with Sgt. Lewis, deputy of Morse and la...

Re: Test Position

Wow. Nice Louis! Score is completely winning for Stoofvlees and Stock should have suffered a humiliating defeat :P (Kaissa is at +5.17 now) Credit belongs to someone else. See https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/fishcooking/9VB1lBKQXFY Thanks Louis, I had seen the post but I had not not looked ...

Re: Severe windows 10 problems. What to do?

Re: Severe windows 10 problems. What to do?

I had a colleague with knowledge of older systems etcetera and he told me, if you get blue screens, it usually is something with the hardware. In my case he was right, my computer eventually died even though it had been running for less than a year. If not hardware, maybe something basic, system rou...

Might be an excellent position for Lc0 on fast hardware... As I was typing this (McCain X4) - really not sure of this is a good search or ...

Re: evaluation that usually go up when you are winning

Evaluation staying planted at +13 only means the engine is unable to find a clear-cut game continuation where white forces the win of more material. Which is normal because.. well, it's almost the starting position and the search tree is still immense:) Good evaluation should go up not only based o...
