Re: can Black win this game after 29. Rxb6?! ...

Hi guys, I think Black wins it fairly easily from Dan's position on :P I did a simple shootout, only 30 plies fixed depth. Sometimes the extensions run away (this not a very good version for controlling depths) and a 40 ply deep search can go for 900 minutes, for just one move. Shootout begun at hig...

The big search tuning patch was tested at VLTC ELO: 12.52 +-2.6 (95%) LOS: 100.0% Total: 19291 W: 3119 L: 2424 D: 13748 20000 @ 180+1.8 th 1 VLTC to see how this big param tune scales after LTC (since tune was done at ltc). Re: Diemer vs Trommsdorf 1973

Off topic, is Diemer the one from the Blackmar-Diemer gambit? Nice picture of two other chess players, a very young Jan Timman and almost just as young Boris Spasski, 10 october 1977 at Elsevier publishing company. I don't remember this particular match, I do remember an earlier match after Korchnoi...

Re: Diemer vs Trommsdorf 1973

61.7% chance of win is not so bad. Black's doubled pawn does not look so strong, so white N against pawn or against two pawns, maybe some of those positions should be won. For instance at the end of some PVs 8/p7/8/2bppk2/1p1p4/1P6/P1P1N3/2BK4 b - - in one line is at least +1.00 8/p7/8/2bppk2/1p1p4...

Re: About stockfish's optimizing for bullet

Most eval tests are better off with better statistical certainty of more tests than longer time controls, IMO, at least I think for most of SF eval, I can't remember things that were especially bad at long timecontrols, I have never really looked for such eval for LTC myself but I also don't remembe...

Re: Spielmann vs Wolf 1922

After 20...exd4 maybe more interesting? Kaissa thinks it is about 1.2 at the moment just running in Multi PV. 21. e5 only move, or 21. Qxd4 for draw, other moves Black gets an advantage. r3r1k1/p2n1pp1/1pb2q1p/8/3pP3/3Q1N2/P1B2PPP/R3R1K1 w - - Engine: Kaissa IV NoContempt (one thread only, no tableb...

Re: SF' MidgameLimit & EndgameLimit ?

It is best to look this up in the code itself. I'm not sure about the details but roughly, Stockfish varies its evaluation factors between a weight for the endgame and a weight for the midgame. How much of each is determined by the game phase. Between midgamelimit and endgamelimit there is a linear ...

Re: WChess PV settings

Hello jcg, I don't know Dave Kittinger's program, but from the sound of it this looks like a form of Multi PV. For an alpha beta program, rule of thumb says that about half of the time is spent in the PV, rest in exploring the other rootmoves. If you want two PVs the time to reach the same depth wil...

Re: What's up with this endgame?

Now Kaissa seems to get stuck a little here Louis... :o Assuming I entered the line correctly into Uly's pgn so far. Could it be a tablebase thing? But 63...Be4 seems just a wrong move... Or is it just because you disabled nullmove in CFish? That I can believe, if it is some sort of Zugzwang and Sto...
