Re: World Fischer Random Championship

Hard to believe So would have the performance he got against Carlsen in FRC, but it happened. It was just a few rapid games. Also they reversed colors. What do you mean by "also they reversed colors". Not reversing colors would have made the result more random; reversing colors makes So's huge scor...

Re: World Fischer Random Championship

Sure, the trick is that you don't need to find a good rare alternative, you can find a good common alternative, and then deviate with a good rare one later on. Here's the lines (exclamation marks denote the moves to play to get into the rare positions, not that these moves are best.) 1. e4 e5 2. Nf...

Re: Networks for lc0

So either even very weak a/b engines can crush humans these days or Mean Girl has a very anti-human style. I’d say it has a very human style, which is “anti-human,” as opposed to “inhuman.” I’ve gotten feedback from several players that they find playing against it makes them stronger. That’s very ...

Re: World Fischer Random Championship

Can you give any example lines for white and especially black? Give me some popular lines you'd want alternatives to. Any line is fine. For example can you find any rare alternatives for black in any of these lines at any point? 1.e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5 a6 4. Ba4 Nf6 5. 0-0 Be7 6. Re1 b5 7. Bb3 d6...

I disagree, it's very trivial to find moves that nobody has ever played before in a game and where the score isn't too far off from the most popular line.

Re: what is the best engine for big material handicap?

Here's an example (3 0): https://lichess.org/tournament/Zleaebtx Notice how high rated players win most of their games, and upsets are rare. If this translated to the real world, I'd expect the strongest crazyhouse human player at 3 0 to beat everyone else in the world in most of their games. This ...

Re: what is the best engine for big material handicap?

I'll not dispute that, I've been saying for years that Crazyhouse is a superior game to chess, and that people should consider dropping chess and moving into a more fun variant, instead of trying to fix chess drawing rules to artificially decrease draws, research what most people would be willing t...

Re: Lc0 51010

If you exclude the poor endgame play, it definitely plays blitz at gm level. But you mean GM blitz level, don't you, not GM classical level? How many elo does a human GM lose (just based on the quality of moves) going from classical TC to blitz TC? Yes I a mean blitz as I have no proof of longer ti...
