Re: Blackmageddon Openings released

2. Some openings don't make sense with a2 missing. For example, you include the Ruy Lopez (Spanish) with 3...a6? 4.Ba4? but both of those moves are silly with a2 missing, since a6 is pinned. Maybe these things aren't so important for the purpose of using it just to test engines, but I don't think t...

Re: AlphaZero No Castling Chess

I am on the phone and TeamViewer now, but the result with Contempt = 75 White Contempt = True is almost identical: 60+0.6 White wins: 99/200 Draws: 94/200 Black Wins: 7/200 The openings were built with the White Contempt = 50 (and no Black castling), so I would not worry too much about them. An int...

Re: AlphaZero No Castling Chess

As to whether players (both OTB and correspondence players) would prefer no castling or a missing pawn to compensate draw odds, my opinion is that most would accept no castling more readily than missing pawn. No castling requires the other side to attack, while missing pawn requires the superior si...

Re: Blackmageddon Openings released

How were the openings selected for this project? I noticed some points about them: 1. Many of the White openings were not ones that we would see in Elite games, lots of games with 1.f4 or an early b3 or an early d3 or even King's Gambit etc. Maybe representative of strong amateur play but not in gen...

Re: AlphaZero No Castling Chess

Of course. In Armageddon, the draw-rate is 0%, too. But NBC is a subset of chess. Black not to castle is very "unnatural". In Blackmageddon, all castlings are allowed. So, it is quite normal chess. With white having one pawn less. Followed by 5 human opening-moves out of the Megabase. That is the r...

Re: AlphaZero No Castling Chess

I have an even simpler modification, but with a scoring modification in addition. Only Black is not allowed to castle and the Draws are adjudicated as Black wins. You have an even simpler modification? That is my NBC-Armageddon openings idea . Not yours. I released it in August 2019, with 4 opening...
