Problems with Hiarcs 14 engines in Hiarcs Chess Explorer

I have been using HCE and the Hiarcs engines (DpHiarcs 14)without any problem for a few months. All of a sudden both Hiarcs engines won't load or run. I've worked with Mark a lot the last couple of days and he is trying to be very helpful. I have done the usual un-install, reinstall of everything to...

Re: Chess Engines, GUIs and Databases for Mac Users?

Thank you Mr. Muller I'll check it out. Dumb question, can the standard uci engines, Houdini, Critter, Komodo, etc. run in the Mac environment?

Re: Netbook for chess

Hello Mr. Muller, what database(s) do you use with your Asus? I wonder if I can use SCID without any problem.
Thanks,
Gerald

Netbook for chess

I want to buy a new netbook (Asus) and I will be using programs like the standard engines, GUIs, databases, etc. I do not care about having the latest multi-core speed demons. Does anyone see any problems with this, as I won't be playing correspondence chess, just want to keep a database up to date,...

Re: How to Lose to chess computers and/or engines

Hi Fernando, what kind of time control do you use for the games? How long does an average game last? I play my games exactly as you describe except I have been know to violate your last rule, but I agree, they should be played to the end. In my case, sometimes I play a long game and just get tired (...

Re: How to Lose to chess computers and/or engines

Fernando, an excellent post. I play my games exactly as you describe except I have been know to violate your last rule, but I agree, they should be played to the end. In my case, sometimes I play a long game and just get tired (I am about your age!!) and if the game is "even" after 25 moves, I have ...

No more TWIC free weekly game downloads?

I saw this article at Chessbase: http://chessbase.com/newsdetail.asp?newsid=8546 They say that TWIC will no longer offer free game downloads. I can't find anywhere on the new TWIC that this is the case. Does anyone know? Is there another reliable source for free weekly pgn updates? Thanks in advance...

Re: review of the new hiarcs explorer

Nice review. I just got the hiarcs explorer and like it also. Imported a few uci engines in like houdini but can't get them to use any of the GUI's opening books.
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance,Gerald[/list]

Printing games using SCID

I am a big fan and longtime user of SCID, but I am not sure how to print out a list of filtered games. Is there a way to select all of them and then print them out?
Thanks in advance,
Gerald
