Sorry, Arpad, but after having installed the version your link downloads instead of 1.3 I already had, I can't find any way to determine positions other than the one to start with.

Re: Complete 7-piece tablebases are out!

As a follow-up, I have since acquired a copy of the latest Aquarium and have been able to test the 7-piece tablebases. In a word: amazing. Well, Albert, but there are still some positions missing to be read by Aquarium, even if they may be stored at Lomonosov meanwhile, e.g. this one still gives no...

Re: 2 Bishops, 9 Pawns: only for big machines!

How many hours (days...) on your machine? Depends on which variant and eval of an engine's output you rely on, but you definitely don't need big machine here with Quazar, using one core only anyhow: 8/4p1kp/3p2p1/2pP2b1/B1P1P1P1/K7/8/8 b - - 0 1 Analysis by Quazar 0.4 x64: 1...Kf6 2.Lc2 Le3 3.Kb3 h...

Re: But to make up here is an extra very difficult position!

It's a result of the original study i gave with the 1...Rxh1 that (as i've said earlier) i don't know its origin: :D I had realized the latter position was the ending of the study we had discussed before, George, and sorry, I missed you had already told us, you wouldn't be informed about its origin...

Re: But to make up here is an extra very difficult position!

Hi Ernest! The principles of MonteCarlo- analysis cannot be compared to other methods directly. I see it as success, if a tool brings up the in other ways not to be found solution as best move, which the upper example does. Maybe you have seen my other "success" with Fritz-GUI's "deep position analy...

Re: But to make up here is an extra very difficult position!

But even much more exiting I find the success in this study with a tool, that had been told about here: http://www.talkchess.com/forum/viewtopic.php?topic_view=threads&p=510762&t=47468 In this posting see also the links to the hp of the author and to the corresponding thread in Rybkaforum.
