Re: compiling winboard

I'm working on compiling winboard now. I went to manns site for the recent code but 4.27 was a empty download when i unzipped. 4.26 worked. I got a make file at a repository. I had to change my enviromental variables to compile and download the microsoft sdk platform to get a make file that visual s...

Re: compiling winboard_X

now that i think about it, i dont have a lot of experience setting up windows projects, i need to set up a special type of project, maybe win32 api. and there may be some libs that i have to add to the project settings. i think winboard_x is similar in this to winboard so anyone who knows winboard_x...

Re: Shatranj? (was: Ongoing GO programming?)

When i found out winboard_F supported shatranj, i pulled out my old shatranj code and hooked it into the current pulsar. Seems to be working, but there was a bug in winboard_f in how it accepted one move , move 88 qe3+ from icc. I"ll probably release next month or when there is full interface suppor...

Re: Testing methodology

this is just one way i test. its a snapshot. if i change the eval what is teh change in a no search fen eval. also if your eval should be symetric it will find out if it really is.

Re: Testing methodology

I think he said he is testing the eval and wants a low depth like depth 1 because he can see ( apparently ) what the position would look like in the eval.

What i do to test eval is run a fen on a position with no search. this gives the best info i think.

Re: My new testing scheme

Testing against your own program or just a few programs can be dicey. For example i've versioned in one month like 10 versions of pulsar playing atomic, and one program can be better against another but not really better when people play it. It might just exploit one particular vulnerbility in the o...

hashing, check extensions and depth

hi, I use check extensions in my program ( pulsar ) and i also hash. I turn on extensions at a variable depth, like once its searched the first 2 ply. this means pottentailly that if a depth like depth 6 is hashed and it was hashed on ply 2, before check extensions, it may not be the same deepeness ...
